Day 13

Monday May 13th, 2013
Today was a very exhausting day.  We were up at 6 to head out to our clinic by 7.  The clinic was near the central market in Kumasi-that means there your hundreds of people out around.  We were helping the St. Patricks Hospital.  They were doing breast exams in honor of mothers day.  They had decided to postpone it until Monday so we could help them.  We arrived and sat around for an hour because they weren’t ready.  So we waited while they set up.  In this market there were people selling stuff everywhere.  There were two giant radios playing at the same time and their speakers were massive.  They ran the whole time, non stop.  It was never quiet.  Once we started, woman clamored to get their vitals checked.  The hostpital was also giving away medicine for the sick so it was very busy.  I helped with vitals for a while but I tired quickly because of all the people pulling on me and the noise.  So I went over and watched them do breast exams.  It was the same Russian lady that I had met previously.  It was really interesting to watch the exams.  Nobody even cared that I was in there and the doctor kept explaining things to me and the other people.  It was really neat.  Unfortunately, the heat was so bad that her laptop kept overheating.  Without the laptop, she wasn’t able to determine if the masses that she would normally feel in a manual examination were problematic or not.  She says most woman that come in have a lump.  So she was only able to do 4 actual exams while we did over 200 vitals today.  It was long and tiring.  I was dancing with all the little kids to the music and my clothes were just wet.  It was so much fun though.  They were very grateful for our help.  We got back to the hotel and I just sat on my bed.  I was so exhausted.  We went swimming for a little while and I got all my reading done.  So I just have a few assignments to complete.  I feel great about that.  I got my laundry back tonight! It was so nice not to have to do it; even though my clothes are blue.  I got the girls dresses back today and they turned out awesome.  I really hope the dresses fit them! I get my clothes tomorrow and I am pretty excited because everyone else’s stuff looked awesome.  Its crazy the sewed all that stuff so quickly.  Seeing that makes me really want to do the shirt business.  If I brought business here it would be so inexpensive.  The possibilities are really exciting.  Kevin and I were talking tonight about how we have ideas but not many people around us willing to help cultivate ideas and that we are sick of reading about 20 something millionaires.  I guess I am realizing that I need to rely on myself and my skills and pray it through and take a risk.  Maybe I will fail; maybe not.  We played Uno tonight but I just felt so tired.  All my emails I sent last night went, but without the attachments.  I was so bugged.  I waited like 3 hours for those to send.  Dumb!  We played a game of Uno tonight but I was tired so I came down to the room and started watching The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and I couldn’t turn it off.  I don’t think I went to bed until one.  It was so good!!
