It was difficult to get up this morning. Once I finally did I realized I received an
email from the Estonian professor at Indiana University. I was shocked to get a reply so fast but they
say I can get a degree in Estonian while do Graduate work. So that is comforting. When I get home I want to ask mom and dad to
take a trip out there and check out the school and things. See if I even like it. To see if its even worth my time and
money. We went to the __________nursing
school. We taught over 250 people how to
do CPR. It was a really simple day for
me. Lisa and Kevin both taught separate
classes and then the rest of us helped train the students on the mannequins. I am glad I got to help train though because
the repetitive nature of things is engraining in me how to do infant CPR, which
I find useful with all my nieces and nephews.
I met a really nice girl in the class.
There are some cute Ghanians.
Richard needs to get on that!! So we taught until around noonish and
headed to lunch. We ate at papaya which
is a fast food chain here in Ghana. I
finally got myself a cheeseburger. It
was the sauciest thing; reminded me of Estonia.
But it was so delicious. It
really hit the spot. I was wiped out
when we got home and just veged in the room.
We then headed out to the city to go to the Accra mall. The drive was so long there but so quick
back. I still can’t get over this
country. You have people that can’t
afford dinner and a block away you have people spending a years salary on a
pair of shoes. I don’t understand how
the difference happens. I really wasn’t
ready to be in a mall like that. It was
so American. After the three weeks we
have had it almost didn’t feel right being there. It felt kind of wrong. I could feel myself thinking ‘I want that, I
need that. I can afford that!’ It really bothered me. I got some ice cream and we shopped
around. I feel so cheap too. When I see something I think ‘I can get that
for a third of the price at the market!’
I will be so cheap when I get home. We saw Iron Man 3 which was pretty dang
cool. I really enjoyed it. Tasha and Kayla sat next to me and they were
hilarious throughout it. All the girls
are really getting to me. That is once
thing I am looking forward too. They are
all starting to have issues with each other and trying to get me on their side
of their own issues. It is driving me
nuts. So I am taking the Switzerland
stance and saying ‘that is interesting’ and cutting everyone out with my iphone
music. I like it. The volunteering really kicked my butt
today. I am exhausted. It still baffles me that CPR is so new to
them and I learn it in high school with an anatomy class. How can that not be a common lesson around
the world? I mean, they are nursing students.
They should be prepared in all situations. Somewhere here, the system is flawed and I am
not sure why. I am not sure how it could
get fixed either. Definitely not this
generation. Maybe in a few generations
it can work itself out.
